I would like to formally apologize to my photographer (James) for being such a weenie about this location. I am one of the biggest babies when it comes to anything even remotely scary. Horror Movies? No thanks! Scary stories? Nope! Calls from my electric company? OH NO.
However, I mustered enough courage to stand at a reasonable distance (despite James stating it would look cooler if I was closer. No thanks! No ghosts for me!). The Hoosac Tunnel, nicknamed the “Blood Pit” ( Do you see what I mean?!), is one of America’s oldest railroad tunnels. During construction, 195 men lost their lives from explosions of gunpowder. Then, another 13 lost their lives when fumes from a gas lamp ignited, lit the scaffolding causing it to fall with debris that buried these men. There’s stories saying you can hear the men walking the tunnels. Eeek! What better place for Halloween photos right? Ugh.
You can get these adorable socks here!
Can you see the fear in my eyes?! I hope not, I was trying to appear super cool. Still loved seeing this place and learning the history behind it. I hope you like these! Let me know what you think of this spooky tale!
Love, Stephy
