Raise Your Way: Turn Your Passions into Purpose!

June 14, 2019 By Stephanie Hope No Comments

I talked before in a previous blog post about my connection to cancer and how I take steps to live a healthier life. Cancer is something that is very close to me and, to be completely open with you, scares me. Watching someone you love go through it and feeling like there’s nothing you can do is a pretty horrible feeling. However, you don’t have to feel completely powerless! Today, I want to talk about the 3 ways I turn my passions into purpose with the American Cancer Society’s Raise Your Way platform! Join the fight while doing the things you love!

This post is sponsored by American Cancer Society; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Raise Your Way

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. They continue to raise funds for research, treatment, programs, and services. I’m so proud to be able to support this organization and do my own part in cancer fundraising by raising my own way!

1. Hosting a Dinner Party

American Cancer Society

I absolutely love spending time with my friends and family. I also really love food. Every so often, I like to host little dinner parties with a purpose! I invite my friends over, we have yummy food, drinks, fun, and I let them know a little bit about my background with cancer and why it’s so important to me to raise money and help attack cancer from every angle! I accept donations at the party instead of having any of my guest bring food or a gift. It’s a great way to spend time with the people I love, doing the things I love, while also fundraising for something I care about.

2. Hiking Groups

raise your way

Living in the Berkshires, I spend a lot of time (especially in the Summer) in the woods, hiking with friends. I actually created a local hiking group that meets once a week to hike around the local trails and mountains! All I ask for to be a part of the group is a small donation to my fundraiser (ANY size donation makes a difference) and we get to do the thing we love, knowing we raised a little bit of money to help eliminate cancer! It’s a really simple way to bring these causes into your life and feel like you are playing a role in helping organizations like the American Cancer Society in their mission to help save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight in a world with no cancer.

3. Craft Night

raise your way

Another really fun way I like to “Raise Your Way”, is by doing a seasonal craft night with my friends. Every season I host a new little party with crafts themed for each season. I provide all the supplies, snacks, and drinks! All I ask again is for a small donation to my fundraiser to show their support for the cause! They get to make a super cute craft to put up in their house, and leave knowing they made a difference in the fight to end cancer! You would be surprised with how many people would be more than happy to donate money at your little personal party! It shows them how much you truly care about the organization, the cause, and what it actually means to you.

How to Get Started with Raise Your Way

  1. Go to the website https://www.crowdrise.com/americancancersociety
  2. Click on the button that says “Start a Fundraiser”
  3. Choose where you’d like your donations to go
  4. You can create a crowdrise account through Facebook, or manually enter your information
  5. Name your fundraiser & create a goal
  6. SHARE EVERYWHERE! Use all your social media pages to share your fundraiser or you can do fun events like the ones I mentioned in this blog post to raise awareness to your fundraiser!

It’s so simple to get started, do fundraising your way, and there’s countless creative ways you can turn your passion into purpose! What are some ways you’d share your fundraiser with friends & family? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear your ideas!

our first outing without Selena! i cried three tim our first outing without Selena! i cried three times before we dropped her off and stress-ate my entire meal but PROGRESS! #motherhood #cozyliving #theberkshires
starting some sensory play with selena which makes starting some sensory play with selena which makes her wake windows so much more fun! would love more ideas of what she could play with! my next idea is maybe like filling the pan with some oatmeal for her feet specifically! i’ve seen a ton of ideas but would always love more! 💕 #motherhood #cozyliving #cozyvibes
now that Selena is a little bit older, it’s nice now that Selena is a little bit older, it’s nice to actually have some sort of routine going every night. but it’s not like you see online. it’s not fancy. the house isn’t perfectly clean, even AFTER i tidy up. i’m not wearing a cute pajama set. my body definitely hasn’t “bounced back”. 99% of the time i’m in leggings and a nursing bra with pumps stuffed in them. this is my reality, and i’m genuinely so happy. tired? absolutely. cozy? always. #motherhood #sundayevening #nightroutine #cozyliving #threemonthsold

my waist is the smallest part of my torso, which m my waist is the smallest part of my torso, which means it makes me look “skinnier” when i accentuate my waist. and there’s nothing wrong with me wanting to show off my waist! however, i have always believed i couldn’t wear an outfit i liked unless it was flattering to my figure. i constantly sacrificed comfort for the sake of showing people “hey i don’t actually look this big!” so i put on these very flattering pants and decided that i should just wear it with the matching oversized top, even though it makes me look “bigger.” and guess what? i’m SO comfy! set is from @popflex_active #postpartum #mombod #motherhood #midsize #midsizegals
one thing i want to try and do as a mother is NOT one thing i want to try and do as a mother is NOT teach my daughter to be scared of bugs. i wish i wasn’t so terrified—it ruins my mood and makes me feel out of control of my body when i can’t help but run away when they come near me. i have absolutely ZERO idea how i will overcome this fear around her, so any advice is so helpful! until she’s old enough, i will continue hiding in cozy tents like this. 🫠 #motherhood #sunday #gratuitosfootpicyouaresowelcome
