Yesterday we had to put our AC unit back up to go to sleep! You know what that means? That’s right! It’s hot out again which means I will be consuming an ungodly amount of smoothies and iced teas for the next 3-4 months. Honestly, I have been craving fruity stuff for a while now, and this recipe really hits the spot on tangy and creamy at the same time! I’m sure there are other similar recipes, but this one’s the one I do and it’s SO good! Let me know if you try this 4 ingredient orange creamsicle smoothie recipe!
The Ingredients
- 400 ml Orange Juice
- 1-2 Drops Vanilla Extract (optional)
- 1 Cup Frozen strawberry and banana mix
- 1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
Probably the easiest recipe ever! Obviously you can use any brand of these that you want, but I highly recommend using a good quality protein powder. The cheaper ones tend to leave a horrible taste in my opinion.
So I recommend 400ml of orange juice, this made SO much! I made around 35oz of smoothie when I finished this! Also, always start with the liquid base in your blender for easy blending!
I usually add a little over half a scoop, but this time I added a full loose scoop of our plant-based protein powder. You can get the one I use here! It’s honestly really good! I also love the creamy chocolate fudge for PB and Banana smoothies!
So I would say I add about a cups worth of frozen fruit, but that is completely eye-balled as I just scoop some in with my hands. I would start with a cup and see the texture of your smoothie and adjust to how you’d like it to be! If it’s took thick, I’d add more OJ. If it’s too liquid-y, I would add more fruit!
Not pictured are the drops of vanilla extract I added for more vanilla flavor. Look at this beauty though! Just writing this blog post is making me want to make one right now (which I totally will). This is my 32oz mason jar and there was some extra in the blender I had to drink!
Overall, it’s an AMAZING smoothie and perfect for hot summer days sitting on the grass! It has that tanginess from the orange and strawberry but that vanilla creaminess from the protein powder and vanilla extract!
