Love Your Melon: Buy Beanies, Fight Cancer!

May 24, 2018 By Stephanie Hope No Comments

Each year in the US, there are estimated over 15,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer. Approximately 1 in 285 children will be diagnosed before their 20th birthday. While the survival rates have improved, there are way too many children whose lives are taken too soon from cancer. We need to fight it. This is why I am so happy to be able to talk about this company, Love Your Melon.

Who Are They?

In short, Love Your Melon is a hat and apparel company that donates 50% of their profits to benefit children with pediatric cancer in the US. Their nonprofit partners fund cancer research and provide immediate support for families of children battling cancer.

To date, they have donated over 4.6 million dollars and 144,000 hats! That’s absolutely incredible! This company was founded in Minnesota in 2012 with the idea of putting a hat on every child battling the disease in America. It’s honestly such an incredibly company, and I am so happy I get to support and share this information with you guys!

How Can I Help?

One of the obvious ways is by buying the adorable beanies they have! They also have headbands, throw pillows, and apparel! Their stuff is so cute and it is for a good cause, so why wouldn’t you want to help?! I have an adorable grey beanie and it’s so cozy, even in the warmer weather!

Request a hat!

Don’t want to buy a hat for yourself but you know someone who is battling pediatric cancer? You can request a hat! Love Your Melon’s Request a Hat program gives friends and family the opportunity to surprise a child battling cancer with a hat! Each Love Your Melon hat is personally given or requested for someone battling cancer with the hopes that it continues to provide smiles and support during a difficult time. Click here to request a hat!

Write a note!

This is something that I absolutely love and will be sending one in myself! You can write a note to a superhero! If you don’t have the money to support the mission, you can always make a child’s day by sending words of encouragement! Your note will be personally delivered and will put a smile on a child’s face as they go through this difficult time. Submissions are limited to one per person, so make it a really amazing letter! Click here to send a smile!

I know there are so many issues going on in the world that need our support. It can make you feel helpless and overwhelmed. I think this is such an amazing company who have found a great way to get consumers to support such an important mission. You get a really cute beanie, and you also help to fight cancer! You really have nothing to lose here, and every purchase really does make a difference.

I know this blog post isn’t as lighthearted as my others, but it’s important to talk about issues and ways we can help, so I am so incredibly grateful to be able to help this company in my own way. Let fight cancer!

Love this post? Check out my morning habits!

i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby insid i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby inside my body right now ready to come out soon. just squirming around, hiccuping. it’s so unreal. the fact that my body just knows what to do despite spending my entire adult life convinced i 1. didn’t want a child and 2. wasn’t capable of being a (good) mother.

if i’m being honest, my fears came from my poor relationship with my own mother. i was raised to be afraid, to never feel like i would be good enough (spoiler alert: never was to her!) but to constantly try, and to feel like i had to buy love from people around me. now i know better. i know that i can just love my daughter unconditionally, help her see that i will ALWAYS be her safe space and never the thing to be afraid of, and that she never has to buy my love.

being a mom is something i never thought i would do, but i am ready to dive in and be the mother i always wanted growing up but never had. 💕 Photos are all from @jaceyanastasio ! #motherhood #pregnancyjourney #maternityshoot
I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, ti I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, tiger stripes, or a badge of honor. To me, they’re just skin stretching—because that’s what skin does. It doesn’t have to carry a deeper meaning or be a symbol of anything. It doesn’t have to be proof that I’m a mom to make me feel like a mom. My motherhood isn’t defined by the marks on my body; it’s in the love I give, the patience I practice, and the moments that shape this journey.

I don’t need to call my stretch marks anything to accept them, and for me, that’s freeing. They’re not good or bad, beautiful or ugly—they just are. A natural part of being human, of growing, of changing.

That being said, if giving them a name or a purpose helps you embrace them, that’s amazing! Every mom’s journey is different, and so is the way we process the changes that come with it. This is simply what works for me—letting my body be, without pressure to find meaning in every mark. No labels needed, no justification required. Just me, existing as I am. #pregnancyjourney #stretchmarks #pregnancyphotoshoot #maternityshoot
