We all love our pets. Most of us would probably risk our lives for them. They’re our best friends and we want nothing but the best for them. However, sometimes things happen and they get sick, hurt themselves, or my personal least favorite: fleas. Having any of those happen doesn’t make you a bad pet parent and you don’t have to rush to the vet for every issue you have. Today, I’m going to talk about keeping our cats protected from fleas & ticks with PetArmor Plus!

Keeping Our Cats Protected with PetAmor Plus
Last Summer, James and I left for vacation for a week. We were going on a road trip and told his sister to feed the cats for us during the time. Before we left, we had some construction work being done on our porch. Because of this, we decide to move in some of the furniture we had in the porch inside the house. Little did we know that we just infested the entire house with fleas. There must have been some eggs on the furniture we brought in and we have absolutely no idea.
A few days before we were set to go back home, we had just checked into the last airbnb we were staying it (which was the cutest one by the way). James got a text from his sister saying that one of our cats, Ophie, had a bald spot between her shoulder blades. She sent us a photo and it was COMPLETELY BALD. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I freaked out and we left the next morning. We get home and didn’t notice anything weird yet.. until I went upstairs.
The cats love to sleep on our bed and I saw hundred of flea eggs and larvae all over the entire bed. They were just wiggling around! It was horrifying. We spent an entire week deep cleaning the entire house and getting rid of all the fleas. Needless to say, it was not the best welcome home party after a relaxing vacation. One of the things I did was protect them with PetArmor Plus.
Caring for your pet
My best advice I would share with other pet owners on how to care for your pets is to invest the money in quality products. They don’t have the ability to take care of themselves and it’s our responsibility as their owners to make sure they’re living the best and healthiest life they can live. For me, that means making sure that flea fiasco never happens again. The fact that I was the cause of the infestation made me feel honestly so horrible, but it doesn’t mean a completely failed as their pet-parent! I just went to Target and picked up the PetArmor Plus which very easily (and affordably- hello expensive vet visits!) treated the problem and prevented any future problems!
I can’t express how important it is to continue treating your pet each month throughout the year. This is because fleas & ticks are present all year and can lay dormant for several months without hatching. I would have been so crushed if after all the deep cleaning we did, we got a reinfestation! PetArmor plus can be used for protection AND prevention treatment of fleas and ticks.
About PetArmor Plus
This fast-acting waterproof formula helps beak the flea cycle by killing flea eggs and larvae for up to twelve weeks as well as kill ticks that may transmit Lyme disease. The vet-quality formula kills fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, ticks, and chewing lice for up to 30 days (which is why I reapply once a month throughout the year). It’s available in one simple weight bracket for cats weighing over 1.5 lbs and can ONLY be used on cats and kittens over 8 weeks of age, which means Norman can now be protected! Applying the product:
- Remove the product tubes & separate the tubes from each other
- Hold the tube with notched end pointing up and away from the face and body. Use scissors to cut off the narrow end at the notches along the line.
- Hold your cat with one hand and use the other hand to apply the solution. Invert the tube and use the narrow end to part the cat’s hair.
- Apply the contents of the tube as a spot between the shoulder blades.
- Hold the cat for a few seconds (good luck!) to give the solution some time to be absorbed into the skin.
It’s that simple, unless your cat is rowdy. In that case, I wish you all of the luck. Rowdy or not, it’s for their own good! I have had way too many incidents with fleas and there’s nothing I absolutely hate more than fleas and ticks. Even having indoor cats I learned how easy it is to still have your cats get infested with them.

I would love to know your story with fleas and if you had any similar situation like I did! They can be such a menace to get rid of. I’d love to hear your struggles and advice on how you take care of your pets too!
