Day Hike & A Picnic w/ JaM Cellars!

September 7, 2018 By Stephanie Hope 11 Comments

Thank you JaM Cellars for sponsoring this post. Looking for JaM Cabernet and Butter Chardonnay near you? Check out their easy-to-use Store Locator! Just pop in your zip code and the wines will be waiting!

With Summer quickly coming to an end, we wanted to get in a fun day hike & picnic up to a beautiful overlook near us. Hikes for me are best when there’s a breathtaking view at the top to make it all worth it! I have also been nagging James all Summer to have a picnic in the woods and we’re finally doing it! So happy to be completing our #SummerBucketList goals! Our basket contains simple little snacks and currently my new favorite wines: JaM Cabernet and Butter Chardonnay from JaM Cellars!

JaM Cabernet

Now that I’m no longer on my anxiety medication, I am so excited to start drinking a bit of wine every now and again, and JaM Cabernet was the perfect one to start with. I am absolutely NOT an expert on wine at all or know how to even drink it like fancy people do! However, that doesn’t mean I can’t thoroughly enjoy a fine wine!

This cabernet has notes of blackberries, black plums, and black currant- a definite berry burst! I’m not usually a fan of cabernets, but I genuinely love the taste of this one!

Needless to say, I was pretty excited to get to the top and have some amazing wine with James while looking at a gorgeous view. This was such an amazing Summer for me. There was tons of laughs, tears, good news, and bad news. Overall, it was one I will never forget- so what perfect way to end it than with some JaM?

Butter Chardonnay

I am usually a fan of all chardonnays but Butter stands out from all the rest for me! Like the name states- Butter is smooth, smooth, smooth! It’s a beautiful, bold and clean wine you’ll honestly never forget! JaM Cellars cold-ferments this chardonnay and then ages it with oak.

I don’t know exactly what it is that I love so much about this wine, but I truly think it’s the lovely vanilla finish!

The trail leading up to the overlook can be so magical! I love taking in all of the green throughout the woods and hearing the bees buzz by. It’s a lovely reminder of this beautiful season. Despite the super hot days where I thought I would melt, seeing the nature after the long Winter was truly amazing.

Then a horsefly slapped me in the face and I hate Summer. When is Fall?!

I mean, look at this overlook! Is it worth wearing a cute outfit that you wouldn’t ever wear on a normal hike? For cute wine photos, yes it is! Do it for Butter. Do it for the wine!

We’ll absolutely have to come back during the peak Fall foliage and take a look at the beautiful colors. It’s my favorite part about living in the Berkshires! Maybe we’ll bring some more JaM- everything’s better with Butter, isn’t it?

Be sure to check out JaM’s site to get more inspo on the wines, read what people are saying, and learn more about their process!

I love love wine even though i try not to take it anymore coz every time i do i tend to overdo it and wake up with a nasty hangover. This however doesn’t mean i don’t like reading about it. I enjoyed reading this and i’m sure the wine suggestions will come in handy next time i’m getting someone wine 🙂

i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby insid i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby inside my body right now ready to come out soon. just squirming around, hiccuping. it’s so unreal. the fact that my body just knows what to do despite spending my entire adult life convinced i 1. didn’t want a child and 2. wasn’t capable of being a (good) mother.

if i’m being honest, my fears came from my poor relationship with my own mother. i was raised to be afraid, to never feel like i would be good enough (spoiler alert: never was to her!) but to constantly try, and to feel like i had to buy love from people around me. now i know better. i know that i can just love my daughter unconditionally, help her see that i will ALWAYS be her safe space and never the thing to be afraid of, and that she never has to buy my love.

being a mom is something i never thought i would do, but i am ready to dive in and be the mother i always wanted growing up but never had. 💕 Photos are all from @jaceyanastasio ! #motherhood #pregnancyjourney #maternityshoot
I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, ti I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, tiger stripes, or a badge of honor. To me, they’re just skin stretching—because that’s what skin does. It doesn’t have to carry a deeper meaning or be a symbol of anything. It doesn’t have to be proof that I’m a mom to make me feel like a mom. My motherhood isn’t defined by the marks on my body; it’s in the love I give, the patience I practice, and the moments that shape this journey.

I don’t need to call my stretch marks anything to accept them, and for me, that’s freeing. They’re not good or bad, beautiful or ugly—they just are. A natural part of being human, of growing, of changing.

That being said, if giving them a name or a purpose helps you embrace them, that’s amazing! Every mom’s journey is different, and so is the way we process the changes that come with it. This is simply what works for me—letting my body be, without pressure to find meaning in every mark. No labels needed, no justification required. Just me, existing as I am. #pregnancyjourney #stretchmarks #pregnancyphotoshoot #maternityshoot
