If you have been a reader for a while now, you can obviously tell my favorite color is pink. This means I find any excuse to wear or use anything pink. I think I’m honestly just making up for all those years in my teens when I was super against pink because I was so edgy and cool. Now, I am easily swayed to buy things in stores based solely off of the fact that they’re pink. So flash forward to these jeans. I have had them in my closet for a few years and have honestly only worn them once. They’re white. I just can’t really make them work. If you can get away with wearing white pants, you are honestly amazing. They get dirty so quickly! So, I have decided that instead of tossing them (they’re honestly too dingy to donate), I would dye them! So here we are, dyeing jeans pink!
Dyeing Jeans Pink
What You Need:
- Jeans
- Bucket (big enough so the fabric can move around freely)
- Water
- Rit Dye in Petal Pink
- Gloves
What I did
First you need to fill the bucket with super hot water. Basically as hot as your faucet can get. I even added boiling water from my kettle to make it hotter. The temperature helps keep the dye become more vibrant on the fabric. I also added a tablespoon of dish soap, and a cup of salt. I actually don’t know the scientific reason, but the bottle said this would provide the best results, and who am I to argue with a bottle?
Once that’s all mixed, you add the fabric in and keep stirring very often for 30 minutes or 60 max for really vibrant colors! I chose the Petal Pink and did it for about 30 minutes and got this beautiful vibrant pink! I also used an entire bottle of Rit Dye for this bottle because I wanted it to be darker than a pastel pink to really see the effects!

After the 30 minutes, you rinse under the sink with cool water until the water runs clean. This honestly seemed like it took forever but you don’t want the dye to still be on the pants and bleed through when you put it in the wash later so this step is absolutely necessary.
Colorstay Dye Fixative
Once it finally rinsed clean, I used the Colorstay Dye Fixative to enhance the color and reduce bleeding more. This was a whole other process with the bucket, hot water, and stirring the fabric a bunch for 20 minutes. After all of that, I rinsed with cool water until clean, then popped it in the dryer! Turns out dyeing jeans pink is actually not that difficult!
I am screaming. No really. As I’m typing this, I am just letting out a very loud screech. The pants are PERFECT! I can’t believe how vibrant and pink they got, honestly! I thought it was would be mostly pastel, which I didn’t really want so I made a good decision by adding the entire bottle. Don’t I look so fun and fresh in these? I almost want to say they’re my new favorite pair of pants I own!
Overall, I’m super happy with the results! You can get the dye here if you’re interested in dyeing jeans pink yourself or anything, really! I have an extra bottle and I am SO doing this again to a different piece! Let me know what you guys think of the results in the comments or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter!
