Cute Workout Outfit Ideas for the Gym

June 8, 2019 By Stephanie Hope 1 Comment

If you have been following me for a while on Instagram (are you following me yet?!), you’ll know that I am very active! I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, run 5 days a week and do pilates 3-4 times a week too! Does it sound totally insane? Yes, but I promise it’s really not that much! Today, I want to show you guys these two really cute workout outfit ideas for the gym! Both outfits are completely from TJMaxx, which is honestly a great store to buy workout clothes!

Each outfit costed me around $25-$35 which includes the top, bottom, and sports bra! I also wanted to go with two different styles of outfits for this post. Personally, I go for the more feminine, colorful look like these beautiful floral leggings. However, I am loving the sporty, casual vibe I get from the second outfit!

At TJMaxx, you can actually snatch some pretty great finds! These super cute dark green shorts are actually from Adidas and retail for around $40! I paid around $15 for them instead! They have a pretty large (at least my local store does) selection of cute workout outfits to choose from. It was honestly almost overwhelming for me because every pair of pants looked exactly the same. Then, I found these beautiful leggings and I’m obsessed. The pastel lilac against the mint green top is not usually a combination I go for, but I think they work really well together to create this ultra feminine look that I love. I would very likely wear this to a pilates or yoga class and feel totally adorable.

Is it necessary to wear  cute workout clothes for the gym or classes you take? Absolutely not. You can literally show up in sweatpants and an old high school track t-shirt or your partner’s marathon t shirt they won. No one will even bat an eye. With that being said, I am utterly convinced that the days I wear my cutest outfits are the days I work out the hardest. When I feel like my outfit is cute, it gives me a boost of confidence and an extra pep in my step. I notice I workout harder, I’m in a better mood overall, and I leave feeling pretty great about myself. So I do feel there is reason to wear something fashionable at the gym- even if it’s just for yourself (as it should be!)

Since, not everyone has a TJMaxx near them, I’m going to show you guys a few similar pieces to what I’m wearing in these outfits so you can recreate it if you’d like.

Similar Pieces You Can Buy Right Now

Did you know that TJMaxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods are all affiliated? You can get pretty cute stuff at your local Marshall’s too! I would shop there if it wasn’t so far away from me, but TJMaxx is honestly one of my favorite places to get cute outfits for the gym or any event you have going on in your life. I never thought I would be the girl to go shopping for specific events, but I now buy outfits for something I’m doing this weekend! Don’t worry- I always rewear!

Where is your go-to place to shop for workout clothes? Let me know in the comments or tag me in your photos on Instagram in your favorite outfit you wear constantly! Feel free to use the hashtag #thetinyherbivore so I can see it and promote on my stories!

i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby insid i still can’t believe there’s a wee baby inside my body right now ready to come out soon. just squirming around, hiccuping. it’s so unreal. the fact that my body just knows what to do despite spending my entire adult life convinced i 1. didn’t want a child and 2. wasn’t capable of being a (good) mother.

if i’m being honest, my fears came from my poor relationship with my own mother. i was raised to be afraid, to never feel like i would be good enough (spoiler alert: never was to her!) but to constantly try, and to feel like i had to buy love from people around me. now i know better. i know that i can just love my daughter unconditionally, help her see that i will ALWAYS be her safe space and never the thing to be afraid of, and that she never has to buy my love.

being a mom is something i never thought i would do, but i am ready to dive in and be the mother i always wanted growing up but never had. 💕 Photos are all from @jaceyanastasio ! #motherhood #pregnancyjourney #maternityshoot
I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, ti I don’t see my stretch marks as battle scars, tiger stripes, or a badge of honor. To me, they’re just skin stretching—because that’s what skin does. It doesn’t have to carry a deeper meaning or be a symbol of anything. It doesn’t have to be proof that I’m a mom to make me feel like a mom. My motherhood isn’t defined by the marks on my body; it’s in the love I give, the patience I practice, and the moments that shape this journey.

I don’t need to call my stretch marks anything to accept them, and for me, that’s freeing. They’re not good or bad, beautiful or ugly—they just are. A natural part of being human, of growing, of changing.

That being said, if giving them a name or a purpose helps you embrace them, that’s amazing! Every mom’s journey is different, and so is the way we process the changes that come with it. This is simply what works for me—letting my body be, without pressure to find meaning in every mark. No labels needed, no justification required. Just me, existing as I am. #pregnancyjourney #stretchmarks #pregnancyphotoshoot #maternityshoot
