If you follow me on Instagram (which you should! I’m awesome!), you’d know that I have a deep obsession with my herbal iced teas. I’ve done quick stories to explain how I do it, but I thought I would create an entire blog post dedicated to show you how I make my cold brewed tea! This tea is perfect for on-the-go and any time you want iced tea, but don’t want to have to go through the process of brewing it hot and pouring it over ice!
The Ingredients
- Your favorite herbal tea
- A mason jar (mine is 32oz so I drink lots of water)
- Lemon
- Mint (optional)
- Any kind of extra fruit you’d like to add. Sometimes I will add strawberries or orange slices!
Optional: Stevia to sweeten it more!
Directions
Obviously the first thing you do is fill your jar with cold water. No need to heat a teapot for this recipe! After that, I immediately add the tea bag to get it started! It takes about 5-6 minutes to fully brew, but it varies on the type of tea.
If you are using a regular black tea, like Earl Grey, I highly recommend cold brewing it overnight as it takes longer!
I took some photos of the tea brewing so you could see how it works!
If you let it sit and brew without mixing it, all of the color will sit on the bottom! It looks really neat!
After it’s been brewing for a few minutes, you can start to add your fixings! Today I chose a lemon and mint tea! So I sliced two lemon slices and cut up some mint to add to the water. I also add stevia to sweeten my teas, but that’s totally optional! The fruit does a lot of infusing!
And voila! You are ready to have some amazingly refreshing tea! As the warmer weather is upon us, this will absolutely be my staple drink! It’s natural and promotes hydration!
What other fruits would you add to this? Let me know in the comments!
